Once again, analysis of the feedback questionnaires from last year's conference indicates widespread support for a further conference in 2012. It is notable that this support is holding up despite the difficult economic environment. The arrangements for 2012 have again focussed on achieving high quality learning and professional development, whilst at the same time ensuring that the costs are minimised.
Due to the commitment required from the police service during the Olympic period and to avoid a clash with the ACPO Summer Conference, the annual Professional Standards Conference has been brought forward to Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 May 2012 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Chester. The conference will begin at 14:00 on Tuesday 15 May and finish at 16:00 on Wednesday 16 May. The conference dinner will take place on Tuesday 15th from 20:00 and is included in the registration package. Lunch on Tuesday 15 May is currently not included within the hotel package; however we are seeking sponsorship for a buffet lunch to be provided on arrival, prior to the conference commencing.
This year's delegate package price has been frozen at the same price as the 2011 event of £349 (+ vat).
The unprecedented number of bookings last year led to the conference room feeling cramped and so the location for the 2012 event has moved to the Crowne Plaza in Chester which will allow for more flexibility in delegate numbers. We have once again removed the use of the 10,000 volts technology, as well as the BlackBerry facilitation, restricted the conference to one overnight stay, rationalised conference support and sought sponsors; all in an effort to provide best value and minimise costs.
Further to this freezing of delegate fees, we are conducting another 'Early Bird Offer' in which delegates booking before Friday 17th February will benefit from a £50 reduction on the normal price, i.e. £299 + VAT (£358.80) per person.
The 2012 Conference will build on previous years' events, but will see a slightly different approach in terms of the Conference structure which will include four overall sessions. Whilst the details have yet to be finalised it is envisaged that the following will be included;
- Session 1 - Vetting issues
- Session 2 - Complaints & Misconduct issues
- Session 3 - Fringe Groups
- Session 4 - ACCAG issues
